Blending rap, funk, hard-core punk, heavy metal, and socially cognisant lyrics, Downset was ab initio formed in Los Angeles in the late '80s as region of the city's placid prospering hardcore view, just apace expanded their sound (and changed their name from the more than didactical Social Justice). Composed of vocaliser Rey Oropeza, guitarists Ares Schwager and Rogelio "Roy" Lozano (the latter of whom has also worked as Cypress Hill's touring guitar player), bassist James Morris, and drummer Chris Lee, Downset perfected their bleak, urban marque of rap/hard gem unification days ahead the genre exploded commercially, debuting in 1994 with a self-titled track record album for Polygram. The followup, Do We Speak a Dead Language?, appeared in 1996, but the band was presently foiled in its efforts to discharge a tierce album due to contractual entanglements resulting from its label's merger with Universal. Downset eventually caught on with Epitaph and issued Check Your People in late 2000. Universal followed four long metre later.

Southern hard-core rapper Miracle hails from Augusta, GA., where he was discovered piece functional as a street rep promoting bloke Augusta native Pastor Troy. San Jose, CA's Insolence formed in 1995 with Billy "Mech 1" Rosenthal (vocals), Mark Herman (vocals), Paul Perry (bass), DJ Jerry M. Delalo, and Mando Cardenas (drums). Together, the quint delivered big toilsome rock candy antics aboard elements of hip-hop for a sharp mod stone candy sound. Guitarist Mike Rowan united the band prior to Insolence's have by with Maverick at the start of the new millennium. Hed to Hed pronounced the band's debut, issued in give 2001.
